We have a date!

     Never did I think my fiancĂ© and I would visit seven reception venues!  We felt each place we visited was just missing that little something special, and possibly was totally over our budget.  The two things I really wanted was an outdoor cocktail hour and for it to be in October.  Fortunately, with less than a year before my desired month, finding an available venue wasn’t as difficult as some people warned me it would be.       Searching through magazines and receiving advice from friends, Kevin and I called a bunch of venues and asked what their availability was for October.  We visited a few places, Normandy Farm, Tyler Arboretum and Paxon Hollow Country Club, until we realized we should probably book the church first.  After meeting with our priest, he penciled us in for Oct. 27, 2012!  Once we had a date, our wedding mission was clearer.      At first we looked at maybe one reception venue a week, but after we had a church date finalized we amped up our searc

The reception venue quest

     It was about 24 hours after I got engaged that I was first asked the question?      “So when is the wedding?”      They were joking, but now it’s been nearly two months and I wish I knew. Choices are numerous and decisions are tough, and honestly, I’m not very good at either. I mean, I spent over a month calling my latest kitten “baby girl” because I couldn’t decide on a name. (Finally choose “Tabitha”).      As I navigate my way through the open seas of wedding planning I am confronted with questions. Do I have a color scheme? Who would I like to have in my wedding? Do we want a church ceremony? What color bridesmaids’ dresses do I like? But first we have to decide where to have the ceremony and reception.      I always thought I’d like a more rustic fall reception, with hay bales and brightly colored Chrysanthemums and trees.  So I’m thinking October.  This October, not October 2013, which I’ve heard is way too soon.  I work with deadlines all the time and
